Get Involved
Becoming a puppy raiser is one of the most meaningful ways to support Guide Dogs for the Blind. Puppy raisers provide a loving home and help lay the foundation for a dog’s future success by teaching essential skills and behaviors.
● Welcome a GDB puppy into your home at around 8–10 weeks old
● Teach good house manners and basic obedience cues
● Socialize your puppy in a variety of environments (stores, parks, public transportation, etc.)
● Attend regular club meetings, outings, and training sessions
● Provide consistent love, structure, and routine
● Care for the puppy until it is ready to return to GDB for formal training
You don’t need to be a dog expert—just committed, patient, and eager to learn. Our club and the larger GDB community provide training, mentorship, and support every step of the way.
